Dr. Mary Newstrom is an internationally known Shamanic Teacher, teaching natured-centered spirituality through an Animist and Shamanic lens. She founded Zenith High and created Spirit Flow~a shamanic study programs. With over thirty years of experience and training with esteemed shamanic teachers in the United States and collaboration with Shipibo Shamans is in the Amazon basin of Peru, where Dr. Newstrom brings unparalleled expertise to her teachings and healings. She holds a doctoral degree in psychology and is certified in health and wellness consultation.

In 1982, Zenith, Mary’s Spirit Guide, first visited her in a lucid dream. Shortly after his visit, she started down the path of a healer, becoming attuned to Usui Reiki. Zenith continues to have a strong presence in Mary’s life, but she has added many other Spirit Guides as her expertise in shamanic healing grows. Complementing the Shamanic training, she has become a Holy Fire Reiki Master Teacher.

In 1999, Mary started studying shamanism under the guidance of Loui Pieper, owner of Evenstar Bookstore, a center for spiritual seekers, tarot, shamanism, and neo-paganism activity for almost 30 years in Minnesota. Dr. Newstrom continued her training in shamanism with world-renowned teachers such as Sandra Ingerman and Betsy Bergstrom to deepen her knowledge of core shamanism, Nordic shamanism, and advanced shamanic healing techniques of soul retrievals, spirit release, and unraveling curses.

Mary uses the healing energy of the Divine to serve individuals and assist them in their healing. Her healing techniques are encompassing and include connecting to the healing energy of her own Spirit Guides and calls in her Power Animals, Reiki Masters, Archangels, and Ascended Masters. This results in a powerful technique that allows her to funnel Divine healing energy to you.

Mary holds a Doctorate in Psychology. She studies aspects of motivation that propel one toward achieving one’s goals. Mary has interpreted this research to understand how to inspire and help others succeed. Her work in a college setting for fifteen years, assisting students in identifying life and career goals, has prepared her to work with various students. An accomplished leader in creating positive community change, she taught at the collegiate level, impacting students to go into the world and make a difference. Mary is experienced working with and in diverse communities, as shown by her work with the GLBTQ community, individuals with intellectual disabilities, individuals with mental disabilities, and people who are homeless.

The call to become a Shamanic Teacher occurred while Mary worked with the Shipibo Shamans. Her Spirit Guides made the request, and after some hesitation, she accepted the challenge of taking these ancient mystery techniques home to the Midwest area of the United States. In 2017, her shamanic training programs were established. Dr Newstrom teaches core shamanism through her family lineage of Nordic shamanism.

Through the direct request of the Spirit, Mary was called to serve the community as a shamanic healer and teacher. Because she combines traditional education, work experience, and shamanic training, she has a particular ability to connect with diverse individuals. The birth of Spirit Flow~ a shamanic study for women, has created a worldwide community developing deeper connections to nature, the elements, and Spirit Guides. Through the training, participants uncover their soul’s purpose and learn how to manifest it daily. This transformational program fosters deep connections with fellow students, creating a supportive spiritual growth and exploration community.

Mary works closely with the Shipibo Shamans in the Amazon jungle of Peru, gaining the expert experiences that shape her into the shamanic leader she is today. After a decade of traveling to Peru, she has in-depth experience with plant medicine and dieting plants in the Amazon jungle. Through her work with Spirit and sacred plants, the Shipbo Shamans blessed Mary to take this knowledge into the larger world. And they requested that she bring people who are ready back to the jungle to experience the healing aspects of the energy of ayahuasca.

Based out of Minneapolis, MN, she travels extensively, partnering with other visionary leaders in the field to deliver life-changing shamanic experiences in easy-to-understand ways that allow the concepts to be applied in the contemporary world. Dr. Newstrom runs Zenith High Training and Wellness Center in Saint Louis Park, MN.
